We're about 15 miles away from Fort Lewis but even so, with the wind in the proper direction, the sound of artillery is unmistakable. Yes, I do hear those shots as the sounds of freedom, just like the roar and supercharger whine of a fast flying Rolls-Merlin powered P-51. But that, of course, is history.
