I favor the long radius round nosed bullets. Not so much the Gov. true round nose but the originals that Sharps, Remington and several other popular manufactures used back then the flat nosed lever rifle bullets.
This year at the Q I used a 461 gr GG parker hale bullet and shot a 31 using it dropping 2 hits at the 800 yard Buff and it took two more shots to find it and lost two from wind calls and only hit it twice. During practice I had no problem with the 800 but those where loaded with 3F OE but I did not have enough for the match so I used 1.5 and 2F KIK. I ran all 8 on the 600 and 8 on the diamond. The flat nosed and the longer radius round nosed bullets are the easiest to control in winds I find. The year I shot a 41 I used a postell type nose in some tough winds.
If you shoot the long elliptical nosed bullets you better have a tight ROT to keep them on paper at the K line.
