RE: Dan T's last bullet design
Kurt I had Brooks make that new postel nosed slick to 1.3 inches after it finally dawned on me that was the exact length of the original bullet Brant Selb sent me. It saved my bacon twice once in Byers and the second time at Raton on the 1000 yd line, when the longer bullets were absolutely laying over and dying in the winds.
I've also set the length on both the original copied 2 dimensional bullets to 1.3.
The 16.5 twist shoots the 1.35 bullets very well, but I have not shot them to 1000 yet. I am going to pick that rifle up in a day or so, and when I do I think I'll mount the irons on it and see just how well it and it's new set trigger will behave at the 1k line.
This new bullet of Dan T's design should shoot very well in all manner of conditions, when my mould gets done I'll cast some from 16-1 to see if they'll make weight for Creedmoor, and start with about 77 grs of OE 2f and a .060 fiber wad. What I don't know is if I'll get a chance to test them properly before fall. But I might have a ticket into the ARNG range at Guernsey so if that turns out I'll be able to shoot proper targets on a regulation range.
