KIK powder

Hey Don:

I've been trying to get KIK to perform for me with at best limited success------------last test was heavily compressed 2f 45/70--------on cleaning the rifle on the bench i found a tan colored fouling seemingly "under" the normal black powder residue-------------took some work and 5 or 6 Windex patches to clear it.

I haven't a clue what it was

Dave I think that tan fouling sounds like the Windex is giving you some flash rusting from not getting it completely cleaned out before oiling the bore and storing it.
I would not use Windex for cleaning after shooting. Just plain water is enough and it does a good job. If you feel you need to add something to the water use a little Murphy's Oil Soap.
I never see anything but a wet black grease when I push a damp cleaning patch through even when using a blow tube and runing a dry patch through when I want to see if I'm getting enough moisture using the tube.

As far as the lack of accuracy your getting I cant explain that with out using your loads and checking a few things like how the lube is working and looking close to see if any flakes of lead are showing up when using the tube or patching between shots.
When I get accuracy falling off it is usually from lead building up even using a PP bullet that gets nose set back that lets dry lead ahead of the patch come in contact with the bore. If this is going on 5-6 shots and the groups open up.
With the GG, alloy to hard with a slightly undersized bullet gas cuts come into play.

The good accuracy you got using Swiss and the lack of it using KIK I cant explain on what is going on.

I'm very anal when it comes to shooting and when I lost the Goex express powder I went through a lot of powders KIK, Swiss, Wano, Diamond, Schuetzen and I settled on KIK because I got very good results using it.
I had some problems with the 2FG KIK in a early batch in the tin cans with a lot of vertical problems so I used nothing but 1.5 since but the last lot of 2F is shooting very good in everything but the .44-90 BN, so I use 1.5 in it.
