I cant tell you anything using a scope for 800 to 1000 yet but it works very good for midrange.
The last Lodi match I switched to a scope because I cross fired three times during one relay and I took the tang off and mounted the scope to finish the match. Yes I saw barrel shadow with a 30" barreled .44-77 but it was not a problem. I since put on a set of higher blocks.
I had .175" front .325 rear and I changed them .05" higher, .225"/.375"
Both of these combinations with 7.2" spacing gets me on the 1K using the DZ scope.

The MVA 10X A scope goes crazy with 7.2" spacing.
