I'll be criticized for saying it but "Norma's the best, pkk the rest" buy the 2.9" and don't even trim till you have the gun in hand. bobw

.. That would be my choice as well. Jamison is good brass but as 2.875" is the required length ( min ) to fully fill that chamber I'd want to start with cases longer still and certainly not 2.855. With the Norma at 2.9" .. full length size one case and see if its going to chamber and if not...then trim back till it does but no more. Very hard to put the brass back if it's not there in the first place Wink

rgds.. Gavin.

No Don I haven't. When I read it was short it was a no brainer for me. The 110 is supposed to have a 2.875" chamber some do and some don't. My Shiloh's original style chamber is 2.882" and my Norma brass came at 2.889 to 2.893 from Norma. Easy to fix when you do your initial 1st and only full length resize. Ain't no fixing .027" short from the get go and I'd be mad as hell to have to go to the bother of stretching brand new brass because a manufacture made it to short at $2+ a piece.
I can do just about whatever I have to in life to get done what I want to achieve. That don't mean I need to fight my way uphill on ever damnned thing that comes along. 20 some years of fighting uphill to get a 50-140 with a Schoftstall overbored freebore to shoot well ,like it's supposed to I can honestly say that it really ain't all fun and games. 5 years ago when when I ordered my 45 2 7/8" chambered the way I wanted it, the cartridge of choice was picked solely for the advantage of using Norma brass. Kenny Wasserburger and a whole slug of others never ever voiced a bitch about the Norma brass they used and endorsed it's quality as the finest. They were right about that and I don't see any need to fix what isn't broke. bobw

Just curious is all. Have you measured any of the new Jamison brasss, or are you just regurgitating stuff that was put on the inet by folks that hadn't either used it, or were going by the last lot of brass that got turned out when the feds were shutting them down over the bogus exporting without a permit deal? Because the batch that I had bought to trim down for the long chambered Italian rifle certainly weren't short enough to bother with, and this batch of 45-90 brass I have is far and away some of the best brass I've seen....

RE: Norma or Jamsion for 45/110
I have minor problems with Jamison's brass. I have 400 cases of each, .44-77 and .44-90 - 2-5/8 bn.
Cases are short and rim thickness varies quite a bit. About 40% I could not close the breach because the rims where to thick. This brass was made for the Shiloh.
Like I said this is minor and something I can fix. Short brass by a few thousands is not a problem in my concentric throated lead bullet chambers. Heck the .44-75 Ballard case is 2.5" and I shot some by mistake in the .44-100st that has a 2.6" long case and at shot very good in that rifle. Smile
Base diameter variances are a problem that lead to case separation like I have with Starline brass.
For straight wall cases I'm switching to Norma. I been using it for the .45-2.4 and I used it for the .45-3.25 when I had it and I have not had any kind of case failure short of damages from loading. Norma is very good brass.

Thanks to the other Bob,Dean and Guys who offered there advice. The lady at Captec gave me the lengths of the brass when I called. They were very nice to deal with.I am sure they make great brass, but the 110 could be a bit longer for the Shiloh.I would rather trim, then try to make it longer. Bob.

Kurt if you need 2.4 brass, guarantee you you'll never think about starline or trimming Norma after you get some of the Jamison.
This Captec stuff is a whole different breed of cat than the older Jamison brass, and those that aren't trying it are only cheating themselves.

RE: Norma or Jamsion for 45/110
No I have plenty of 2.4 even some old Bell. I need 2.6. Brent is bringing a bunch to Lodi for me. I don't know what his 2.6 brass is but I need it for the .44-75 Ballard.
I sent a E-Mail to Starline last week about the new run of 2.6 cases separating above the rim in the thick portion of the base, still haven't heard from them. That new batch of brass has thin rims and the base diameter is .498 to .499 most of the .45 chambers run .452 plus in the base.
