RE: our 4th
Happy 4th to all. Got up at 430AM this morning and cranked up the lead pot for a bunch of .440" dia slicks for the upcoming MT 1000.Later in the day rebuilt the bullet trap backstop and did some buffalo sirloins. Laid back and a great day. bobw

Well, it is a good morning. The only fireworks we heard was late last night and it sounded like distant artillery. Maybe it was distant artillery... Shoot sharp, Mike

Maybe it was a tennis ball firecracker Mike Smile

The sound of distant artillery, the sound of freedom on the move..

We do, on occasion, hear artillery shots from Fort Lewis... But last night the sounds were fireworks, maybe heavy stuff. Shoot sharp, Mike

We're about 3 miles from the north artillery range at Camp Guernsey. We get to hear artillery fire on a fairly regular basis.

RE: our 4th
We're about 15 miles away from Fort Lewis but even so, with the wind in the proper direction, the sound of artillery is unmistakable. Yes, I do hear those shots as the sounds of freedom, just like the roar and supercharger whine of a fast flying Rolls-Merlin powered P-51. But that, of course, is history.
