Front Sight

A question for the seasoned veteran shooters, Which globe sight is your sight of preference for silhouette Shooting? In the past on my rifles I used the Lyman 17A and on one I had the Baldwin. I do not see the difference on these unless you were looking at getting one with windage, which I don't think you need unless you are shooting long range.

I like the Baldwin with it's internal level, and those crossfire suspended apertures are nice to use on both silloutte and target.

For the money I like Lee Shavers larger sight. It is a Parker Hale with a level installed inside. I like it being oversized , lets more light in and easier to find target. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have 17A's on several of my rifles and use aftermarket inserts. The Lymans are from Lee Shavers and have the level on them. I havent had any problems with them at all.

I like the larger Baldwin style fronts. For off-hand shooting, they let me (hopefully) see the target easier.

I really like that sight too. It used to be my favorite. My only complaint is that I don't like the inserts as much as some sights as the rings on the apperture are a bit on the thin side. You can stack two of them in the sight to work around this though.

My new favorite front sight is the Distant Thunder midrange front sight. It's more pricey though. I believe he can probbly make inserts for the large Shaver front...
