Question
I been looking for a 93 Marlin in a .38-55 for some time. Last fall I saw one but I let it get away.
I have a .30-30 336 Marlin that has been in my collection since the 80's and it I don't think I shot 50 rounds through it and it looks like I just opened the box and first looked at it. I been thinking about reboring it to a .38-55, Have any of you done this and with the action handle the .38-55 round with out malfunctions?
And who is the one to send it to for a re bore?

RE: Question
The action should handle the 38-55 without any problems, just have to be mindful of the cartridge length. I am wondering tho if there's enough barrel material at the muzzle to handle the larger bore.

RE: Question
I think the best bet might be in the end to keep searching and get one of the Marlin Cowboys, or one of the various Winchesters. I'ld like to find one of the Crazy Horse commeratives that has been mostly a safequeen

RE: Question
I have a mint early 93 in a .30-30 I been thinking about using for the lever side matches, maybe it's just as well I use it till I find the .38.
I know nothing about the cowboy stuff but I will look into them.

RE: Question
I have a 95 Marlin .45-70 26" Cowboy that has a very thin barrel that shoots very well. But I cant figure why the CB model has such thin barrel. Maybe the wanabees don't shoot full loads Smile

RE: Question
Yep, Cabela's has one too. I'll run across one one of these days. But for the time being my mad money went for a Franchi over/under shotgun.. and boy does it shoot nice. Smile

RE: Question
My shooting partner has a pre 1900 Win94 .30-30 and he did the same thing. He screwed on a Numerich Arms .38-55 barrel without any glitches at all. Going into the project he had concerns with the lifter but it was unwarranted. Toughest thing was indexing the barrel to the action. It's a real shooter.
