Looks like the remnants of your coffee filter .

My white paper coffee filter wads leave no residue at all.
What other wads are you using?
BTW-That 74 gn load looks real good.

If that's lube on the case mouths then your cases might be a bit too short. My CSA .45-70 has an overly long chamber and I cut down .45-90 Starline cases for it. As long as you are not getting lead rings it might not affect accuracy much.

Just coffee filter under the powder charge and started using between the wad and bullet. I also started using .060 veggies. Never seen this with slip fit. I'm still settings the bullet out past the first grease groove. Maybe find my longest brass resize and bell the mouth see if the chamber is longer than it should be.

The longest case I have measures 2.112 flaring the case mouth I can just feel the chamber throat.
What should I trim to ? Does 45-70 case stretching slow down with neck sizing at some point. I trimmed it to 2.095 and new starling brass is 2.100. Undecided

Set up paper at 500 yds despite a Brezzy day but could break shots in slack moments. I think I'm on the right track .
