RE: Starline brass
Don Starline don't make .40-70 as far as I know. I didn't say they did.

Starline brass
Hey Kurt I was shooting at Ridgeway today had to get a alibi on the turkeys so I could remove half a 45-70 Starline case .This was the 5th reloading . A few times with .060 veggie the load was bulging the case slightly. So I went to the .030 veggie and it stopped bulging the case . Also I maybe my patches 7 to one napa we're to damp and didn't dry the chamber good enough.

RE: Starline brass
Sam give me a date of your monthly matches. I will head to Dingmans Ferry sometime early this year to have a talk with Paul and Gail on a new project so it will be a good time to head a little south and shoot your match there. Been wanting to do this for a spell.

RE: Starline brass
We would love to have you stop in, here are the match dates that I was sent earlier this year.
May 27th 40 shot match
June 23rd-24th PA State Championship, 60 shots per day for score.
July 22nd 40 shot match
August 26th 40 shot match
September 22nd / 23rd Eastern Regional, 60 shots per day for score
October 28th 40 shot match
Kind of a rule of thumb, the matches are the 4th sunday of the month, with practice time available on saturday.
The Ridgway range is not hard to get to and for the most part not a bad pull if you are pulling a camper. If you need any help or directions give me a yell and I will do my best to help you out. The Ridgway range is give or take about a half hour or so north of Interstate 80. You would take Rt 219 north, the Brockway exit, just follow 219 right into town, and then just go straight through town. Be careful with the stop lights as the straight through lane is not clearly marked and are a little strange. As you leave the down town area, you will corss a bridge, a set of RR tracks and see a statue of a guy leaning on a jack hammer, Briggs Construction, just after that you will see a blue sign directing you to the range, you will turn right and go up hill. A big green and gold sign will driect you to turn left and follow the dirt road to the range.

RE: Starline brass
Thank you Sam. I printed this page out and put it in the gypsy wagon so I don't forget it.

RE: Starline brass
I've run 45-70, 40-65, 38-55 and 50-70 Starline brass for years with black, smokless and duplex and never have seen what you are showing. It's like the cases are trying to move with the bullet. I know you have been around a while but you might want to take a second look at your fouling control methods, to me it points to a lubed or too wet chamber. Just my two cents worth.

RE: Starline brass
No Mike no chance for a wet or oily chamber. That bore gets wiped before the first shot is fired and working up loads two wet followed with two dry using 100% cotton flannel patches that absorb moisture very well.. No oil in the wiping water, just plain old water. The head space is tight were the breach block rubs hard on the head face raising the block.

RE: Starline brass
Forgot......I don't size the cases so no sizing lube on them to clean off.
