RE: Got a call
Nice !! And so another 44 joins the family ! The 7 degree transition chamber Don or did you brave the full pp chamber this time ? We are hoping for a shoot this weekend ..though the temperatures are predicted to be over 100 degrees. This will be the last for our club until next year. Hoping 2021 brings a little more sanity than 2020 has produced. About time I gave the 44 a breather and will loose the 50 x 2 1/2" for a change. Lovely piece of gear you have there Don...but then ...they always are.
Gavin.

Good choice,
I like the standard weight barrel on my .44-77 hunting rifle. It don't take the back seat to the heavy for accuracy.

RE: Got a call
Has Kirk put a faster ROT option for the .44 yet then the 19?

RE: Got a call
I have the .44s in 1/16, 1/17 and 1/19. The 16 does not shoot as well as the 19 and I see no different between the 17 and 19 shooting a 1.3" bullet, but the 17 with a 1.450 holds better than the 1.3 in the 19 at 1000.
Odd thing I can use the 1.450"" in the .44-90 BN with very good results at the 1K but the bullet needs to be a little harder than what I use for a 19 twist because of the faster rotation coming out of the .44-90.
I really don't see why the .44 lost favor over the .45.

RE: Got a call
There was the .44-70 Maynards and .44-75 Ballards plus others but I think your right about the GOV. using the .45 calibers. That is just like the Gov. now using the .223's now they took over the .222 and the .22-250.
I have a .45-70 in the 95 Marlin and it is a hand full with that light rifle with a load of black and a 485 gr or a 500 gr bullet. It belts me just as hard as the .50 does.
