Read ya Dan...but it was blowing here this day also! It's MARCH....and it'll blow like Ole Billy Hell till it turns VERY HOT and then one could drop a feather from 20' and it would hit the toes! I've just learned to wait until the lull and go with that! I know all about your winds! I trained at Fort Carson shooting with my segment of the AMU there for 4 years! I've got a good bench

but I can't control the Shiloh off it nearly as well as using the tailgate! As for a 'null point'....well...that's a joke and it doesn't make any difference whether I'm on the bench or off sticks....it's the same! However.....when shooting off the rolled up shooting mat which I have a 2" piece of galvanized pipe in the middle to keep it from collapsing.....I rest my forward hand atop the mat with the forearm in my hand pulling rearward with the buttplate pulled strongly back into my shoulder and I can tell all the difference betwixt accuracy in this manner versus the other two positions!
