Rossi 92 44 mag
Hi guys I just bought a Rossi 92 in 44 mag with 24 inch octagon barrel and a case harden receiver. I have not received it yet but I am thinking it will be here by early next week I hope. This is my first Rossi lever and the only lever that I have ever had in the 44 mag. Cant wait to try it out. I do have a FFL but I could not find one from any of the wholesalers that I buy from so I found this one on Gun broker for about $50.00 more than my dealer cost so I just went ahead and bought it. I also ordered a mold from Accurate Molds, it is a 43-250c gas check. I just love Toms molds I think they are one of the best molds made.

No lever rifle in a pistol caliber likes semi-wadcutter style bullets.
I load 240gn lead Round Nose Flat Point(RNFP)for my .44 Marlin over 6.5 gns of Unique.

Nose looks like what I use in my Marlin's in .44.
The base looks like it's for a gas-check Huh

Yes it is a gas check mold, and I am going to order a plain base mold also. I just dont know which one yet.I just wanted to try some hotter loads with some gs bullets for hunting.

Don't sweat the "hotter" loads bit, you'll get up to 300 fps (depending on the powder) over revolver data when using the same load in a rifle.
You could always order the double cavity mould from Tom , 1 cavity plain base and the other the copper diaper .
The only trouble I've ever had with swc bullets in a levergun is trying to seat them to far out the nose will hang on the end of the magazine tube and eventually will cause the lifter to break. But seated normally there's no reason why a swc bullet won't work in a properly built and functioning levergun.

200-225 gn bullet in .45 Colt a is great plink'n weight.
Just keep all the screws tight on that rifle and check'em often.
Don't forget to clean the inside of the mag. tube from time to time.
Post some pictures when you can.
Unique is a great powder for load'n the .45 Colt. Use a firm roll crimp on the cases.
