RE: 45 2 7/8 Groove Dia Patched
Bob , it worked well with a 446 Ballard bullet and not too bad with a 444 but I didnt like it as it wasnt as thick as the rifling.when it was on a bullet. I also used it on my 50 3&1/4 with the big ballard bullet for it as well,
I got mine quite a while ago and it is 100% cotton, so I guess I should have said that as well ,the new stuff doesnt say on the rolls. and I cannot vouch for its performance like the old stuff.

I've heard that the Browning 45-90 with its freebore might like this mould , so I might give it a try too. I have several types paper gathered up. Just have to see if one fits

Dean how did it work? , guess I allways worry to much about being to thin. bobw

One thing you want to keep in mind buying paper and looking at the # number. A smaller # number does not necessarily mean it will be thinner. I have some 7-1/2# that is .0019" and some 9# that is .0017" thick and I had some 100% cotton 20# that was .0024" a lot thinner than one would expect.

kurt what you say is true , but in this case the paper is what I said it is , the 7 is noticably thinner than the 8 ,I have both on hand and have used bothwith good results.

The best way to 'guage paper' if you're going to a store to buy locally is to stick a 1" Starrett Mic in your pocket and take a measure! Personally I use a thickness of .0018" for bore diameter using an as dropped bullet of .4460" diameter.
