minimum powder in .40-65

a minimum powder charge in my .40-65 seems to work the best for me.

53 grains of Swiss 1.5 in a Starline case, basically no compression.
fiber wad .03, Jones pan lubed bullet at 422.6 grains, BR II primer, maximum length on cartridge, using blow tube in cooler weather, wiping in hot weather

what I like the best about this load is that its real recoil friendly

As long as you've got the velocity to keep the bullet stable to the maximum distance you're shooting it's all good.

I am punching nice holes in paper at 300 yards

I have not gone past 300 yards yet, hopefully I will have my mobile target build within the next 2 months, I am anxious to see what happens at 500 yards

As long as you're not bound by a velocity requirement such as the Whittington Center uses for the Creedmoor matches, and you get the accuracy you're looking for , go for it.

If bullet is not making round holes at paper entry then this shows unstability of bullet and therefore I need more velocity.
