RE: Shiloh 1877's
Randy, stay away from a 45-90 in this rifle. LONG TERM, the recoil will make you shoot it less and less. Think 40-70 straight, or 44-77. With good brass, you can make a 40-70 shoot. You'll thank me later. Shoot straight, rdnck.

RE: Shiloh 1877's
rdnck, After seeing Don's post I have been reconsidering as I am already set up for the 40-70 SS. I had thought of the recoil in 20 years, would not be fun and the 40-70 SS is a pleasure to shoot for sure. Thank you for your consideration.
I have another Q, Will Shiloh cut a PP chamber or just deal with the GG chamber?

RE: Shiloh 1877's
It's going to be another 40-70 SS,just shot 45 rounds to get the Captech brass back,I have a PJ 40 cal Creedmoor mold I bought used from a guy in CA. It's to fat at the ogive to chamber without tooling it in,it shoots darn good though.

RE: Shiloh 1877's
Pulled the trigger this afternoon on a Shiloh Sharps 1877. Rifle will be another 40-70 SS, 32" round, polished Rigby flat barrel, traditional steel butt plate, brass escutcheons, fire blued screws and AA finish. As Don said "Now the wait begins". First rifle I have ever spent $3G's +. I sold a Colt Anaconda 45 Colt for $2G's + so at least I have defrayed the cost somewhat.
I want to to thank you all who responded and help me formalize this rifle.
