Well at least they would chamber, though probably not fire! I've heard of a number of shooters who have done that or they brought the correct ammo but the wrong rifle. In some cases they had traveled a long distance to a match and then discovered their error!
I've never done either, but I have loaded ammo for a match only to realize when I was done that I had the wrong powder charge!

I did that for the Mother's Day match at Lodi in 2009. I meant to load 87 grains of 1 1/2 Swiss but misread the scale when I set up and loaded 92 grains in my .45-90. It worked out ok though, that was my first win at Lodi and how I won the Badger barrel for my Hepburn. It took several years to build the Hepburn but that was where it started.
It's best if the ammo fits the rifle though or it would be much harder to win!
